Spring Soccer Update

Hi everyone,

Hope this email finds you all doing well, or at least as well as can be expected.

No major update from today’s MSYSA conference call, just that all soccer is shut down through April 30, meaning the earliest anything can start is May 1.

That’s also wishful thinking, in my opinion. This virus is not slowing at all and continues to spread in Genesee County.

That said, whenever we can get back out and play (when it is safe), rec and travel can adjust their seasons to play into August if need be.

Many associations across the state have canceled their spring seasons on their own.

And depending on the fluidity of this nasty virus, MSYSA could mandate seasons are canceled as well, just like the NCAA and MHSAA have done, in addition to professional leagues.

I get it - we all want to get out on the fields and we’re all going crazy indoors. All of us want nothing more than to be out on those fields with the kids enjoying soccer.

But right now, safety is the No. 1 priority.

Going forward, we’ll continue to follow MSYSA’s lead and the Goodrich soccer board will continue to monitor the situation.

Thanks and hope everything is going well for each of you and your families!
